Life is filled with safety nets: Life insurance, social security, medical insurance, Medicare, 401K, car insurance, house insurance, savings, and in-law insurance (just seeing if you are with me!). You secure these safety nets to protect your life. Our world is filled with safety nets, but do you pay attention to the most important one – Jesus Christ? Your position in Christ provides perfect insurance not just for this life, but also for eternity. God’s safety net does not require money, work, or changing yourself; all that is required is believing in Jesus… understanding His life on earth, His death on the cross, and His resurrection. When the Holy Spirit imparts this truth, convicts you of your sin and your deep need for God, and you make Jesus Lord of your life, you are saved. That is the best safety net! The rest of your Christian life will be lived out by making God your portion. Lamentations 3:24 is preceded by verses 22 and 23: “Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”(NIV)
Every day of your life in Christ provides the opportunity to experience God’s love and compassion. This experience is life changing because of what God is doing in you as well as through you. Finite man encountering His infinite Father in heaven creates an endless experience and joy of allowing the living God to not only touch and work through
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (NIV)
Three things actualize your walk with God: 1) Loving the Word of God – God’s truth for your life. 2) Constantly meditating on God’s Word and praying about it. 3) Living moment by moment with Jesus. Letting every aspect of your life lay deep roots into
Jeremiah 17:8 “He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (NIV)
