2 Corinthians 2:15 “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” NIV
Aroma indicates a fragrance that can be pleasing or putrid. God, of course, wants one that is pleasing, attractive, and inviting. The fragrance that your Christian life represents affects both Christians and non-Christians. God’s desire for you is to have a positive effect on each. It is a startling reminder that your life is a visual picture of Christ to those who are perishing. You are Christ on earth to one who is literally perishing for eternity. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” If anything should give you a call to passionately follow Christ - that should! Your fragrance to others is not something you do but a product of your relationship and walk with Christ. You can be assured that when you take control of your Christian walk, your aroma will be tainted by your sin nature. It is only out of an intimate relationship with Christ that you put off an aroma that encourages Christians around you and attracts those who are perishing to the hope of Christ.
2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is the Spirit.”
