"Finding Satisfaction"

Date published: 10/30/2010

Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (NIV)

God has created every person to experience life within His design and purpose.  God has equipped you with gifts and His purposes in using those gifts.  As long as you live outside of God’s purposes, callings, and giftings, there will be a lack of fulfillment that makes your heart “sick.”  God wants you to have fulfillment and satisfaction.  Psalm 17:15 gives you a path to finding this satisfaction.  “As for me, I shall behold Thy face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Thy likeness when I awake.”  Two things happen when you “behold God’s face in righteousness:” 1) You pursue Christ to know and become like Him; and 2) The process of knowing and becoming like Christ will provide you direction into His will.  As your life aligns itself with Christ and you respond to His leading, you will have your “longing fulfilled.”  You will not only grow in your love for Christ and His righteousness, but you will also begin to see Christ in you – you will like what you see!  You only get this satisfaction by going deep into Jesus and responding to His calling.  Apart from knowing Jesus more intimately, your deepest longing will continue to be “deferred” – “making the heart sick.”  As you connect and respond more to Christ, your longing is not only satisfied, but you will also begin to experience the satisfaction and joy you were created to have in Christ Jesus.  Do not defer any longer the abundance and satisfaction that God has for you.  Passionately seek to know Jesus in everything and order your life according to His desires for you.

John 15:9-11 “Now remain in My love. If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Father's commands and remain in His love.  I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (NIV)
