Luke 16:10 "Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.” (NRSV)
God not only wants you to exhibit faithfulness in every aspect of your life, but He also wants you to be faithful in what He has called you to do. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 states,“So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” As you enter the new year, it would be good to reflect and pray about what God has entrusted to you in His kingdom. God has a specific calling and purpose for your life. God’s purpose is often thwarted, because you fall short in the little things. God’s desire is for you to become a useful tool in His hands to magnify the kingdom of God. This begins in the small areas of your life and blossoms throughout your life. In essence the little things are the big things. Your usefulness to God will be in direct proportion to your faithfulness in the little things. The disciples wanted to rule, but Jesus taught them in Mark 9:35, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." To be effective leaders, they had to first learn to serve others. What are the little things in your life that will make you great in God’s kingdom? Loving God first; loving others; developing Godly character that allows you to love others; faithfully seeking God in prayer and Bible reading; obedience, etc. Be faithful in the little things and watch God use you in great ways in His Kingdom!
1 Samuel 26:23 “The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness.” (NIV)
